70% Of IT Workforce in Tech Mahindra trained in Digital and Future Skills: Towards its mission to transform into a digital organisation with a future-ready workforce, Tech Mahindra has reskilled and upskilled almost 70 per cent of its IT workforce in digital and future skills. The company’s recent partnership with FutureSkills, which is an initiative by Nasscom, has helped the company’s upskilling drive in key digital future-skilling initiatives.

Volkswagen launches the 2019 Sarvottam Skill Development Programme: Volkswagen India launched the 2019 Sarvottam skill development and recognition programme. Through this initiative, it aims to invest in objectives and steps towards imparting knowledge and training to its indirect manpower and workforce, to boost their capacity and potential for an improved buyer connect and an excellent experience.

Project Saamrath aims to train 10 lakh personnel: By 2020 The Rubber Skill Development Council (RSDC) aims at skilling, upskilling and reskilling 10 lakh personnel involved in the rubber sector, through its newly launched Project Saamrath.

Committee constituted to empanel institutes as skill training providers by Department of industries: The department of industries has constituted a committee to scrutinize and empanel institutes as skill training providers under a scheme that will incentivise industries for training prospective employees.

SKF India signs MoU with ASDC for accreditation: SKF India signed a MoU with the Automotive Skill Development Council (ASDC) for the accreditation of its YES (Youth Empowerment at SKF) centres. The participants are given six months of vocational training in automotive two-wheeler and four-wheeler repair as per the Modular Employability Skills (MES) course. The program also trains students in personality, communication skills, customer service, goal setting, financing and business management skills.

Political parties should focus on 7 areas to create 100 mn jobs in 5 years according to PHDCCI: Industry body PHDCCI suggested political parties to work on seven areas including smart farming, bolstering industrialisation with artificial intelligence and industry 4.0, ease of doing business for MSMEs, revitalising exports growth, exploring tourism potential, quality education with skill development and inclusive health for all, to create over 100 million jobs in the next five years.

How RPL is making a change in rural India: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programme, under PMKVY in just three years, has certified more than 10.47 lakh people, across 620 districts in India, ranging from maize cultivators in Bihar, carving artisans in Rajasthan, rural masons in Uttar Pradesh, and many others.

NITI Aayog suggests increasing stipend to Rs 5,000 for NAPS: NITI Aayog has suggested an increase of more than threefold in the reimbursement of the cost of training candidates under a new version of the government’s NAPS, this will bring down the liability of companies and give a lift to the programme which has not yet found many takers.

German delegation surveys government ITI : A German delegation visited Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Aurangabad to assess the possible areas of cooperation. The institute’s principal said that the visit was aimed at understanding possibilities for support in the future regarding skill development.

82 Lakh Engineers, Post-Graduates applications for 62,000 Group D (Helpers) Jobs In Indian Railways: 62,000 Group D jobs receive 82 lakh applocations from engineers and post-graduates in subjects like engineering, commerce, science, maths and arts in Indian Railways due to acute shortage of jobs in the country.

2,000 women in Bengaluru benefit through Amazon Cares: Amazon Cares, which is the CSR initiative of Amazon India has recognized women as a significant community of individuals and has been working towards creating opportunities for their growth and empowerment. It aims to make a difference to women across the country and help achieve sustainable development through various initiatives.

IBM helps in achieving holistic growth by upskilling women in STEM fields: In order to bridge the gender gap IBM announced a three-year programme under its CSR initiatives targeted at promoting STEM education for female students and prepare them for “new collar” jobs. In the first phase, the programme will affect the careers of over 2,00,000 women studying in government institutions across the states of Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

394 youths skilled by IndianOil: As part of its CSR, IndianOil Refineries, has trained youth from the Delhi-NCT region in various training courses to support the national campaign of Skill India. The students who passed out were advised to regularly update their skills and knowledge, to stand good in any circumstance and support their families.

India’s first women apparel pattern-makers through MasterG: MasterG, a year-long garment design and skill development programme started by designer Gayatri Jolly has trained over a thousand women from low-income and marginalised communities, such as SC/ST groups and religious minorities. After completing the programme, some have started their own businesses, some are working with brands such as Doodlage, Dhuri and Ekam, and others have turned teachers and are grooming other girls like them to break into the fashion industry.

Jammu and Kashmir ropes in Tatas to promote IT-enabled services: The Jammu and Kashmir government has roped in the Tatas to promote IT-enabled services in the state. They met to to work out modalities for involvement of the corporate sector for institutionalised development of the IT sector.

Telangana

Telangana graphic designers to be upskilled by Designhill: With Telangana being its second biggest market in terms of number of freelancers, Gurgoan-based Designhill is planning to set up a design academy which will conduct workshops for graphic designers. These workshops will help the budding graphic designers to reach more clients and will be conducted in partnership with government agencies.:

Ni-msme organises a one day workshop on skill development for youth and micro enterprises: A workshop on skill development and livelihood opportunities for youth and micro enterprises was organized by National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Hyderabad. The objective of the event was to help micro enterprises identify the new opportunities in the areas of entrepreneurship development.

CBSE approves first feeder school offering skill-based curriculum : CBSE has approved a feeder school in Haryana, which offers skill-based education from class IX itself. This is an aim to control the increasing dropout rate at the secondary level. Most students studying in state government schools dropout because of financial constraints or due to their inability to cope with higher education syllabus.

Sharda LaunchPad joins hands with Harvard Business School online and Amazon Web Services: Sharda University has collaborated for ‘LaunchPad’ with Harvard Business Online, Amazon Web Services and Digital Vidya to boost the entrepreneurial eco-system.The initiative will focus on ‘Powering Youth Entrepreneurial Dreams’ in the University and across the region.

Job-ready skilling programs launched by Wiley in India: Wiley announced a series of blended learning programs in India under the umbrella brand WileyNXT. They have been designed in consultation with the Wiley Innovation Advisory Council which is a group consisting of senior industry leaders and academia. This will provide students with better access to new-tech jobs and also expertise in critical thinking and problem-solving which have been major requirements for organizations.

 Air Queen offering Diploma in aviation, cabin crew: AIR Queen, is a premier vocational training institute accredited by the government bodies of skill development in India specialising in aviation, hospitality, travel management and customer service. Students who have passed class XII or above are eligible for new admissions for the course of diploma in aviation, cabin crew.
