NSDC collaborates with Airtel Payments Bank: NSDC has partnered with Airtel Payments Bank to skill youth in rural India and enable them to find employment opportunities within the financial services industry. The partnership aims to combine NSDC’s rich experience, deep training infrastructure, and wide network with Airtel Payment Bank’s industry insights to design and conduct targeted skill development programs for rural youth. IISC of NSDC gives accreditation to MAHE’s WGSHA: India International Skill Centre (IISC) of NSDC has awarded accreditation to the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), a part of MAHE. MAHE has been enlisted as a network member of the IISC and WGSHA in addition to the ‘Department of Culinary Arts’ (DCA) are empanelled as network centres.

PMKVY-III to be highly friendly towards employers: The third phase of the Centre’s flagship skilling scheme PMKVY, which is likely to be implemented soon, will involve industry more and be “highly friendly” towards employers. industry should formulate plans to integrate its skilling objectives with PMKVY-III.

Flipkart signs MoUs with Odisha and Andhra Pradesh: Under its Samarth programme, Flipkart has signed two MoUs with the government of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to onboard arts, crafts and handloom sector of these states into its e-commerce platform with free cataloguing, marketing, account management, business insights and warehousing support.

VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition Holds its 19th Annual National Convocation: VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition held its 19th Annual National Convocation through a unique live event held on the YouTube platform. Over 300 students from across India were awarded their certificates in the virtual ceremony.

FICCI collaborates with Amway India for a webinar: Amway India partnered with FICCI to host a webinar on Enabling Future Education in North East India. The webinar focused on making quality education accessible and also addressed infrastructure requirements, the need for seamless integration of technology in the education system and identifying knowledge, skills, attitudes and values required to shape the future of students.

Apprenticeships

Hyundai to hire upto 1,800 apprentices: Hyundai Motor India is going to hire 1,600 to 1,800 apprentices to meet the demands of existing as well as future products, becoming one of the few companies to go for recruitment in the times of this economic slowdown. The selected candidates will undergo training at classrooms and on the job.

NCL recruitment 2020: Openings for 1500 trade apprentice posts: Candidates passed ITI Exam from UP or MP Based institutes can only apply for NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2020 through online mode on official website www.nclcil.in from 17 July to 16 August 2020. The candidates are advised to read all instructions carefully and thoroughly before applying.

US-India Strategic Energy Partnership ministerial meeting: A number of agreements and partnerships were announced in a virtual ministerial meeting of the US-India Strategic Energy Partnership (SEP) to advance the strategic and economic interests of both countries. A public-private Hydrogen Task Force was also launched to help scale up technologies to produce hydrogen from renewable energy and fossil fuel sources and to bring down the cost of deployment for enhanced energy security and resiliency.

India and the EU to take economic partnership to the next level: The mechanisms created at India-EU Summit will enable it to conclude trade and investment pacts opening a new era of business partnership between India and the European Union. In the summit the two countries have decided to work towards balanced, ambitious and mutually-beneficial trade and investment agreements.

Andhra Pradesh

30 skill colleges to be inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh: Thirty skill colleges will be formally inaugurated on 2nd October 2020. The skill colleges will be spread across 13 districts in the state. A project monitoring unit will be set up for continuous monitoring of the skill colleges

Jammu and Kashmir

Districts to formulate skill development action plans within a month: The districts in Jammu and Kashmir will formulate skill development action plans within a month and this will be followed by starting training youth including women and other marginalised groups as per district requirements.  

Kashmiri youth prepare masks, PPEs for earning livelihood: A Kashmiri youth who was trained under PMKVY is preparing masks and PPE kits to earn livelihood during this pandemic and contributing in the fight against COVID-19. The institute, which is an undertaking of ‘She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneurs’, trains youth in tailoring so that they can earn their living without being dependent.

Maharashtra 

Training of locals in Maharashtra to fill in the skill gap due to migration: The government of Maharashtra is going to train the local workforce as the state is facing a huge challenge of skill gap due to mass migration triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The training will be conducted through online medium as well as on-hand practical training wherever needed.

Online job counselling by Punjab government: The government of Punjab is going to provide online job counselling to the job aspirants and also online placement opportunities. The government is also organizing a webinar on ” Emerging Dynamics in Employment of Youth post COVID-19- Challenges and Opportunities” was also organized to create awareness regarding the changed scenario of employment, emerging sectors and employment opportunities. 

Punjab Chief Minister talks with IIT Ropar, IIM Amritsar over skill development: A meeting regarding skill development programmes was conducted with IIT and IIM institutes in Punjab. The Chief Minister of Punjab instructed officials to develop the campuses keeping green requirements in mind.
