Virtual Reality(VR)

Let’s face it. The reality is boring and sometimes you do feel the need to transcend to an alternate reality. To leave our school, colleges and work behind and dive into a completely different world which has its own rules. Well, that’s no longer a dream. For the last few years, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies have become much more than just a concept in the labs.

Whether it is games like Pokémon Go or the sudden movement of a static promotional poster of movies and products through the lenses of a smartphone camera, VR and AR are going beyond reality in every aspect.

As amazing as the application of these technologies in our lives the scope for skill development and the future job is broad too. Whether it’s healthcare or manufacturing or education the scope of the technologies is vast. Although VR and AR are separate entities they often end up in the same discussion. So together they are called extended reality.

While the opportunities seem never-ending, here are the top 5 job roles that are in demand,

Virtual Reality(VR)Design Architect

This is a job role where you need to work with the client to design the interior as well as the exterior of the devices used for AR and VR. The helmet or the goggles used to experience the extended reality will be designed by you if you pursue a job role in design architecture. A bachelor’s degree in arts will be required followed by a course in the architecture school. You can go for a master’s in architecture which will give a boost to your resume.  Companies like IKEA are providing their customers with a satisfying shopping experience using AR. Where, as a customer, you can not only view the images of your favourite furniture, you can also see whether it can fit in your leaving room or not. So, companies will continue to go out of their way to give a bright future to these job roles.

Software Designer

Software designers design the software with the help of a developer and 3D artists. Software designers, in general, have good job role growth. The required qualification for this job role is to have a bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science. Here you can learn to design and program software as a part of your curriculum. Additional knowledge in web platforms will take you a long way.

System Validation Engineers

As a system validation engineer, you will be required to solve any issues that will arise including the technical issues and circle back with developers to make sure the application got modified accordingly. To be able to pursue a job role as a system validation engineer, you will need a bachelor’s degree in engineering and some years of experience. The fields you can do your Btech for a greater scope are electrical, mechanical or computer science. The relevant coursework should include maths, statistics, and material science as well.

Software Developer

Software developers are widely required. If you are an outstanding software developer with a hint of creativity, you will be offered a lucrative salary worldwide. As basic as the job sounds, it actually has a bright future with all the technologies rushing in. If you want to pursue a job role as a software developer you need to have a bachelor’s degree in engineering. You can take up a certification course in which ever technology you want after your Btech. Implementation is very important in this job role so you can take up a small project to start with.

3D Artist

The 3D artist is an emerging job role in the future job aspect. While upskilling is needed to cope up with the trend, creativity is equally important. A bachelor’s degree in arts or computer graphics is needed to pursue a job role as a 3D artist. There is a bachelor’s degree and master’s degrees for this which are offered by many colleges. If you don’t want to go for a full-time course you can enrol in a certification program too. This is a field where you can put your artistic skills and talent for arts to use. You need a strong understanding of colour, texture, and light and how they work together. Your creativity and artistic skills will help you pursue a job role as a 3D artist. There is a huge scope of jobs in this field in India as well as abroad. You can choose from a variety of programs and on which you want to work on. 3D animation, game development, and new media development are the branches of fields under 3D artist.
