Muthoot Fincorp partners with NSDC to train over 10,000 people over the next 3 years.

NSDC has approved the training of 3000 candidates in the first year and subsequently 3500 each in the next 2 years. Muthoot Group will also absorb 80% of the trained students into the Group for regular job roles after the successful completion of training and assessment of the candidates. This program will help the candidates become job ready and gain access to steady income opportunities in the NBFC space. Candidates with a graduation in any subject, preferably B.com, with minimum 55% marks can apply to the Training Service Providers directly who will be advertise the requirements locally in their districts. More takers for ITIs than Engineering colleges in Maharashtra

Interestingly when engineering colleges in the Maharashtra are not finding many takers, colleges offering vocational courses or Industrial Training Institutes have emerged as the winners.

More than 1.3 lakh seats are available at ITIs this year of which at least 3,000 new seats have been added this year. In its contrast, no new seats were added to engineering colleges this year and the admissions is likely to fall by 10,000 seats, according to sources. Some of the courses offered by the ITIs are sought after because of their employability.  Incidentally, there are more seats in government ITIs than in private ones almost twice the number. Five ITI students got overseas jobs through Tata Steel Skill Development Society

Five ITI students got overseas jobs through Tata Steel Skill Development Society. They have been placed at Hong Kong, and will be getting a starting salary equivalent to INR 85,000/- to Rs. 90,000/- per month whereas in India, ITI pass candidates get an average starting salary of Rs. 8,000/- per month. In addition, they have been provided furnished accommodation and free transport to workplace and back. The job contract is for two years which can be extended depending on performance and mutual agreement. Read more…

MoU signed between Samsung India and Maruti Suzuki to set up on-campus labs

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Samsung India and Maruti Suzuki, who have set up on-campus laboratories to help students pursuing two-year courses in electronics, mechanics, electrical and motor mechanics.

Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad have three ITIs, which impart skill-based training to over 5,000 students every year. ITI, Pune, is run under the Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (DVET). With this Pune has become the first ITI in the state to bag company partnerships worth over Rs 1 crore, under which students will get trained in latest electronics and car technology. Read more…

Boeing to expand Engineering and Technology Center in Bengaluru

Global aerospace company Boeing announced its expansion of engineering and technology centre in Bengaluru and said it would accommodate another 1,000 new employees to drive the aerospace innovation. This would double the existing footprint and the new employees, will work on cutting-edge technologies that include digital aviation, electrical, mechanical and systems design and provide support for lab and flight testing for aircraft. Maruti Suzuki to set up 400 skill training centers partnering with vendors.

Maruti Suzuki India will set up 400 skill training and enhancement centres in partnership with its vendors by 2020 with in order to bring global quality standards for its suppliers.

The facilities, christened DOJO centres, are training grounds for fresh workmen and re-skilling for existing workforce. More than 90 such centres are operational at the facilities of the company’s partners. These centres help to acclimatise professionals and in preparing them, especially new workforce before they join work on the shop floor at manufacturing plants. Read more…
